An exciting opportunity for a top class Second in charge of Religious Education to join our school

We are looking to appoint an outstanding Second in charge of Religious Education. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and energetic practitioner with high expectations; they will be passionate about their subject and able to inspire and motivate students. They must be committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning, achieved through lesson planning and careful assessment. This post is suitable for an experienced teacher who is able to support the Head of Faculty in the day-to-day running of the department and deliver outstanding lessons across the key stages.

RE is taught in years 7 to 11 and all students sit GCSE RE in year 11. Students’ learning is enriched by visits, lectures and seminars outside of school as well as an annual Faith in Focus Season. We are seeking someone who can contribute to this extra-curricular learning and success beyond the classroom in RE and in the wider life of the school.

Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the school before making an application.

Working at GCA

The successful candidate will be joining a tight-knit community; the turnover at GCA is consistently low and the well-being of our staff is important to us. We aim to support staff to achieve a sensible work-life balance.

Staff at the Academy collaborate and support each other by sharing good practice and taking a team approach with a focus on collective responsibility. Paul Sutton, our Principal, encourages teachers to have an impact beyond their subject and he is always available and happy to discuss ideas with you as to how this can be achieved. We have an impressive range of extra-curricular activities and most of our staff are involved in running at least one.

The personal development of all our staff is highly valued at GCA and we offer the opportunity to apply for our Learning Award of up to £2,400 per year for your continued professional development or other skills and talents. This is in addition to the school’s ongoing CPD programme. Other benefits staff can opt into include a cycle to work scheme and an interest-free annual season ticket loan.
