What it means to be a governor in a Church of England school
All Governors have three key roles:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
Church school governors have the additional role in developing and upholding the distinctive ethos upon which their school was founded.
This course will look at what it means to be a governor in a Church of England school; touching briefly on the role of the Foundation Governor.
