English Teacher

Inner London Pay Scale

Start date: 1st September 2024

An exciting opportunity for an outstanding Teacher of English to join our successful English Faculty

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Teacher of English to join a successful and motivated faculty in our school. As part of this professional and dedicated team, you will be instrumental in inspiring and motivating our students, connecting what they learn in English to their everyday lives. Our forward-thinking faculty takes a collaborative and supportive approach to the development of its staff and you will play a key role in continuing to raise standards. This post is suitable for an ECT.

Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the school before making an application.

The English Faculty at Greig City Academy is creative, committed, collegial and very strong. We believe we work better for our students when we work as a team: we share resources, support one another’s development, and contribute ideas to improve and inspire each other. We also strongly believe in the Academy’s desire to incorporate extra-curricular opportunities to forge relationships, expand the curriculum, and broaden opportunities for students to engage with English as a subject. There is much scope here to develop in such a way. The English Faculty includes English and Media up to A Level, Whole School Literacy, and English as an Additional Language.

Working at GCA

The successful candidate will be joining a tight-knit community; the turnover at GCA is consistently low and the well-being of our staff is important to us. We aim to support staff to achieve a sensible work-life balance.

Staff at the Academy collaborate and support each other by sharing good practice and taking a team approach with a focus on collective responsibility. Paul Sutton, our Principal, encourages teachers to have an impact beyond their subject and he is always available and happy to discuss ideas with you as to how this can be achieved. We have an impressive range of extra-curricular activities and most of our staff are involved in running at least one.

The personal development of all our staff is highly valued at GCA and we offer the opportunity to apply for our Learning Award of up to £2,400 per year for your continued professional development or other skills and talents. This is in addition to the school’s ongoing CPD programme. Other benefits staff can opt into include a cycle to work scheme and an interest-free annual season ticket loan.

Why not pay us a visit and find out more? Contact Viv Oxley by email at voxley@greigcityacademy.co.uk or by calling 020 8609 0100. We will try to find a time that works best for you.
