Science Teacher

Inner London Pay Scale

Start date: 1 September 2024

An exciting opportunity for a top class teacher to join our successful Science Faculty. This post is suitable for an ECT.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Science Teacher to join a successful and motivated department in our school. Our forward-thinking Faculty takes a collaborative and supportive approach to the development of its staff. As part of this professional and dedicated team you will be instrumental in inspiring and motivating our students, and in continuing to raise standards. This post is suitable for an ECT.

Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the school before making an application.

The Science Faculty at Greig City Academy:

The Faculty comprises Biology, Chemistry and Physics; it has a suite of ten modern, large and well-equipped purpose-built laboratories housing a team of thirteen Science teachers and two technicians.

This is a great time to be joining the GCA Science Faculty. Science is a highly regarded subject within the school: science results have significantly improved and there is a real buzz of enthusiasm throughout the faculty. The Science Faculty is a highly motivated team striving for excellence, with high expectations of both pupils and staff. Students are encouraged to think for themselves giving them the opportunity to make sense of the work around them.

GCA is a successful STEM school and the Science Faculty drive forward innovative teaching practices, placing high value on practical work. A range of well attended extra-curricular activities for students at lunchtime and after school – for example our KS3 science club and KS4 raising achievement sessions – are offered.

Working at Greig City Academy

The successful candidate will be joining a tight-knit community; the turnover is consistently low and the well-being of our staff is important to us. We aim to support staff to achieve a sensible work-life balance.

Staff at the Academy collaborate and support each other by sharing good practice and taking a team approach with a focus on collective responsibility. Paul Sutton, our Principal, encourages teachers to have an impact beyond their subject and he is always available and happy to discuss ideas with you as to how this can be achieved. We have an impressive range of extra-curricular activities and most of our staff are involved in running at least one.

The personal development of all our staff is highly valued at GCA and we offer the opportunity to apply for our Learning Award of up to £2,400 per year for your continued professional development or other skills and talents. This is in addition to the school’s ongoing CPD programme. Other benefits staff can opt into include a cycle to work scheme and an interest-free annual season ticket loan.

Why not pay us a visit and find out more? Contact Viv Oxley by email at voxley@greigcityacademy.co.uk or by calling 020 8609 0100, we will try to find a time that works best for you.
