Design and Technology Teacher
STEM Coordinator

Inner London Pay Scale and Additional Allowance AA2c, £7,847 + £3,000 (STEM)

Start date: 1 September 2024

Could you be a pivotal, dynamic teacher in Greig City Academy’s Design and Technology Faculty, and be a part of leading STEM across the school? We are seeking a highly motivated, well qualified and enthusiastic teacher of Design and Technology who can also continue the success of our cross-curricular STEM activities programme and help to drive the programme still further.

We have over many years built up a successful, state-of-the-art Design and Technology Faculty and an excellent STEM programme, with the aim of making the Academy a centre of excellence in both Design Technology and STEM teaching, as well as a hub for STEM activities and events. Our STEM clubs and activities are very successful and popular with our students and through our outreach programme we are involved in teaching and mentoring to neighbouring schools in a variety of exciting projects. At school, all students follow a carousel in Key Stage 3 but every year group also has a STEM class following a specialised additional STEM curriculum. Involvement in all aspects of managing this programme will be a key responsibility.

The successful candidate will deliver outstanding lessons across Key Stages 3-5 and be instrumental in inspiring and motivating our students. They will be able to demonstrate that they have broad experience of working within a successful and innovative Design and Technology Faculty. We value industry experience and welcome applications from experienced teachers.

Interested candidates are encouraged to visit the school before making an application.

Working at Greig City Academy

The successful candidate will be joining a tight-knit community; the turnover is consistently low and the well-being of our staff is important to us. We aim to support staff to achieve a sensible work-life balance.

Staff at the Academy collaborate and support each other by sharing good practice and taking a team approach with a focus on collective responsibility. Paul Sutton, our Principal, encourages teachers to have an impact beyond their subject and he is always available and happy to discuss ideas with you as to how this can be achieved. We have an impressive range of extra-curricular activities and most of our staff are involved in running at least one. Ours is a caring and well-ordered environment in which all students can enjoy learning, develop enquiring minds and acquire the skills and knowledge they need for a changing world. Every day we see the results of our efforts in students who work responsibly and with consideration for others – they are the best ambassadors for the school.

The personal development of all our staff is highly valued at GCA and we offer the opportunity to apply for our Learning Award of up to £2,400 per year for your continued professional development or other skills and talents. This is in addition to the school’s ongoing CPD programme. Other benefits staff can opt into include a cycle to work scheme and an interest-free annual season ticket loan.
