About LDBS Academies Trust

The London Diocesan Board for Schools Academies Trust (LAT) was established in 2012 to establish, maintain, manage, and develop Church of England schools across the Diocese of London.

From its beginnings with five primary schools in Haringey, the Trusts have grown to a family of 8 primary schools across Barnet, Brent, Enfield and Haringey in LAT, and 2 further primary schools in Hounslow and Surrey in LAT 2.

The Trusts remain committed to academic excellence in a strong Christian context and are expected to expand further in the coming years.

Our Vision

“Delivering learning that enables all children to grow beyond expectations”

The Trusts’ vision is inspired by the parable of The Mustard Seed (Matthew 13:31-32). Every school within our Trusts, like the mustard seed, holds the potential to grow beyond expectations. Through careful nurture and high aspirations, we create the right environment for this growth.

As a senior leader in a Church of England multi-academy trust, the COO is expected to uphold and actively promote the Christian ethos of the organisation.

About the Role

The London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS) Academies Trust LAT and LAT 2 (“the Trusts”) is looking for a Chief Operating Officer.

Our vision is to deliver learning that enables all children in our care to grow beyond expectations. The core purpose of this role is to support the Chief Executive Officer in delivering the Trusts’ strategic objectives, which drive high standards by ensuring that all our academies are growing beyond expectations.

This is a newly created, transformational role, requiring the creation and implementation of a new operating model that optimises the delivery of all shared services.

In the first 3-6 months, the COO will:

  • Quickly build strong relationships across the Trusts and with external partners;

  • Manage the current shared services operating model;

  • Identify and deliver “quick win” improvements to operational efficiency;

  • Design a new target operating model aligned with the Trusts’ strategy and Christian values;

  • Establish clear processes and systems to support immediate priorities while laying the groundwork for sustainable growth.

About You

You will have:

  • Senior-level experience in leading and optimising shared service functions;

  • Expertise in financial strategy, audit, and reporting UK regulatory frameworks;

  • A track record of success in designing and embedding target operating models and delivering large-scale organisational change;

  • An understanding of the operational environment and demands within a school trust, and a strong track record of strategic leadership and operational management;

  • Commercial experience in managing an operations portfolio in a large complex organisation;

  • An unwavering commitment to the safety, well-being and holistic development of children and young people, prioritising their education and fostering an environment that enables them to thrive;

  • A deep understanding of and alignment with the Christian ethos of the Church of England developed as a practicing or non-practicing Christian.
