Assistant Vice Principal, Teaching & Learning
Point 12 to 19 on the Leadership Scale for Inner London (currently under review)

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable member of staff to join our Senior Leadership Team. This exciting role is for a leader of Teaching and Learning and all staff Continuing Professional Development throughout the Academy, in addition to the everyday responsibilities of being a member of a busy, committed and well-knit Senior Leadership Team.

The job:
You will bring a new vision and creativity to our established team. Your new ideas and unique experience will drive our team further. We expect you to challenge the status quo and create an effective programme to develop all of our staff.
You will be challenging conventions and inspiring others to do the same. You will elevate teaching and learning within the Academy, leaving a lasting impact on our students, staff and the educational landscape. Specifically, you will:
monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of current teaching practices;
manage and monitor the quality of education delivered;
share in the line management of subject leaders;
review the Academy Teaching and Learning policy and current working practices;
review and oversee the induction programme for all new staff to the Academy;
oversee the induction of ECT staff and their ongoing development;
oversee the induction and development of Teach First staff;
organise and deliver whole school INSET days;
oversee and manage the Appraisal process throughout the Academy;
manage and oversee the whole school CPD budget, training needs and training requests;
coordinate whole school observations and book checks;
work with pastoral staff to develop and promote behaviour for learning strategies in classrooms.
What you need:
The successful candidate will:
be an excellent practitioner inside and outside the classroom;
have excellent behaviour management skills and have high expectations of all students;
demonstrate outstanding teaching, and support consistently strong and effective teaching throughout the Academy;
work with our diverse school community to identify and develop best existing practice and work in the same way with fresh ideas;
have a proven track record in raising standards;
lead by example and model exemplary practice;
have excellent communication skills – verbally and in writing – with students, staff, parents, governors and other stake holders;
be an advocate for equity: you will champion inclusivity and diversity;
have strong personal values, such as honesty and integrity, that provide a clear moral framework for professional conduct, and be able to show a clear understanding of the Christian ethos of the school;
be able to demonstrate that you are a leader that can call upon personal qualities appropriate at this level, such as tact, diplomacy, empathy and excellent listening skills;
be able to accommodate success and failure, to analyse both and to use the information and experience to drive progress;
have considerable energy, resilience, and a well-developed sense of humour!
