St John's CE School, Stanmore, at National Festival of Music for Youth Final 

St John’s Church of England School are very proud to have taken part in the National Festival of Music for Youth finals at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Centre in Birmingham on the 5th July 2024.  The orchestra auditioned at the regional festival in Harrow in March and were selected to go to the National finals following their performance.  St John’s orchestra is made up of children in Years 3-6 consisting of a wide range of abilities.  They rehearse each week and also lead the worship in the clergy assembly every Wednesday. The School is a lead school for music in Harrow and champion music education with over 100 children learning instruments. The orchestra is always popular and there are currently 46 children who attend regularly. Mrs Ogunniyi, the music teacher said “It is such an honour to be chosen to go to the Nationals in Birmingham.  The orchestra work really hard and sound amazing and this opportunity is recognition of their hard work and commitment”.

Mrs Hester, the head teacher also commented “This is an amazing achievement for our children and reflects the love of music across the school, the ability to work together to create such a professional sound and a recognition of the high quality of instrumental playing”.
