‘More Precious than Rubies’ Spring Residential, Eastbourne

We had a wonderful time with 53 Headteachers from across the diocese at our Spring Residential entitled, 'More Precious than Rubies'. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to our inspiring speakers, Chine McDonald, Revd Professor James Walters and David Watson OBE, and spending time in the beautiful sunshine and sea air in Eastbourne; a great place to think and reflect on the theme and come back refreshed. This was our first Headteachers’ conference in Eastbourne.

Chine started the conference discussing ‘Wisdom in Times of Turbulence.’ This was followed by an evening Ash Wednesday Eucharist service led by Bishop Joanne Grenfell and was a special way to start the Lenten season.

Revd James Walters shared some thought provoking ideas giving headteachers time to discuss and think about ‘Wisdom in Education.’ Headteachers had a lovely afternoon with some free time to explore the local area of Eastbourne with a walk along the beach as well as having time with LDBS staff. Headteachers also had a chance to meet representatives from Christian Aid, ISing Pop, Springs Dance Company, The Serpent and the Seed and Picture News at our exhibition.

David Watson shared some powerful insights on ‘Leading with Wisdom’ before everyone departed. Our Headteachers shared their feedback of their experience of the conference in Eastbourne:

"I thought all the speakers this year were excellent. Thought provoking and challenging."

“I thoroughly enjoyed networking with other headteachers. I thought the quality of speakers was excellent and thought provoking.”

“Opportunity to pause & reflect. Thought provoking speakers. Location excellent (beautiful setting & easy commute from London).”
