Alex Scheffler Book Launch at Ada Lovelace School, Ealing
On Friday 15 November, on behalf of Thames West Language Hub, Ada Lovelace CE High School hosted the incredible launch of Wuschel auf der Erde: A New Adventure in Learning German - a new book aimed at primary school pupils who are beginners in the German language. Commissioned by the Goethe-Institut and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, known for The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom, the book is an invitation for children to explore a new language and culture through the eyes of a charming character.
The event was attended by the German Ambassador, the Minister for School Standards Catherine McKinnell, Rupa Huq MP and the Bishop of Willesden.
Almost 100 primary school children attended the event, and took part in a lively German taster session using the resources. Axel Scheffler live sketched a couple of well known characters during a special presentation and then joined a Year 7 art class to see our talented students work and take part in a Q&A session.
