St Luke’s, Milwall pupils volunteering with the local winter night shelter

For the last few years, St Luke's CE Primary's Year 6 pupils have volunteered with the local night shelter, run by GrowTH - a brilliant example of children being involved in social action! The diocesan Compassionate Communities have produced a video to celebrate this amazing partnership, highlighting what strong relationships between churches, schools and local charities can achieve.

In this video, we see the school, and a local church - St Luke's Milwall - working together to help the children take part. For example, Revd Ed Dix teaches the pupils about the story of the Good Samaritan, and the teachers - led by Mr Richard Griffiths - are seen helping pupils at the church to set up beds and lay tables.

If you want to learn more about getting children involved in church-based social action projects, please contact the Compassionate Communities Team - they can provide you with a toolkit which includes an example risk assessment (kindly provided by St Luke's CE Primary School), FAQs and links to further resources.
