From 27 April to 5 May the Chaplaincy of Bishop Ramsey CE School worked with Holy Trinity Northwood Church to run a creative Prayer Space in the Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School using activities from the Prayer Spaces in Schools website. Holy Trinity School’s dedicated Godly Play space was turned in to a prayer space with coloured fabric, a pod tent, fairy lights and a net.

The whole school had sessions in the prayer space over the course of the week in groups of 5-15.  The sessions were supported with volunteers from local church and schools work organisations.

A parent commented that there usually active child had loved the ‘Be Still’ tent because they could lie down and be still.

A child in Year 4 said they loved the prayer space because “you can talk to God inside-ly and not with everyone listening… you can pray in different ways and not in the way you expect.”

A Year 5 child said “having this space in school is a calm and peaceful place. I can reflect on different things, like people I have lost.”

Another Year 5 child said “it’s an opportunity to get what’s in my mind out…I think these places are good because they have different places you can connect, like the calm jars which helped me slow down”

This was a really positive experience for all involved.
