KS1 Class Teacher with Subject Leadership
Salary – Inner London; MPS 3-5 £37,857 – £41,892 pa, plus TLR (tbc)
The role is not suitable for ECTs
Required September 2023

St. Andrew’s (Barnsbury) is a small one-form-entry Church of England primary school set in a quiet area of Islington within walking distance of The Angel and King’s Cross. Our Christian ethos and values underpin everything that we do. We are a ‘Trauma Informed’ school and our understanding of this has an impact on every interaction and decision made so our children learn to develop positive mental health strategies.

We have wonderful, well-behaved and remarkable children and a small staff team who put the needs of the children first. We have a lovely, calm school with lots of outdoor space and a building that’s all on one level.

We are looking for –

• A teacher who will uphold our Christian values and ethos
• A teacher who believes that a child deserves the very best education – every day – with no ‘buts’…
• A teacher with energy and enthusiasm and the belief that teachers make a positive difference to children’s lives
• A teacher who understands the importance of nurturing every child

We can offer –

• A ‘village’ school in the heart of Islington
• Amazing, well behaved children who want to learn and want to be in school
• Dedicated governors
• A strong staff team to be part of

Ofsted (Good, 2019) said –

• The welfare of the pupils is at the centre of everything staff do
• Pupils behave well in lessons and at break and lunchtimes. They are polite in the way they talk to each other and to staff.
• Leaders focus on nurturing and supporting pupils so they can achieve as much as possible. They have thought about what pupils should learn in each subject and how to link subjects together
• The school is well led by the headteacher, the deputy headteacher and the governors. They understand the strengths and weaknesses of the school. They have used this understanding to make plans to further improve. Teachers and other staff feel well supported by leaders. They have lots of help to manage their workload.
• Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) do well. This is because teachers and support staff get to know them and understand what helps them to learn.

Visits to the school are strongly encouraged and can be arranged by contacting the school.

Closing date: noon, Monday 19th June 2023
Interviews will take place week beginning: tbc
